Daniela Iraschko au top

L'Autrichienne a remporté cet après-midi le premier concours coupe du monde d'Hinzenbach (Allemagne) devant la leader de la coupe du monde Sarah Hendrickson et la Slovène Katja Pozun. Coline Mattel seulement 33e.

After one hour of try, with three jumpers to go and with still unconstant wind conditions, the jury decided to cancel the final round at the Viessmann FIS Ladies Ski JUmping World Cup. 

The result of the first round turned to the final standing: Daniela Iraschko   On the 1994 won in front of home crowd. Overall World Cup leader Sarah Hendrickson (USA) was 0.7 points behind, and Katja Pozun (SLO) got third place.

 

France's youngster Coline Mattel finished in 33th and missed the qualification for the final round.

 

In front of 2000 spectators and with temperatures around minus 12 degrees Celsius, the Ladies Ski Jumpers performed on high level and braved the wind. But the top three didn't have any chance to show their talent a second time.

KEY FACTS

- Daniela Iraschko is the third winner in the Ladies World Cup opening season after Sarah Hendrickson (four victories so far) and Sabrina Windmueller (SUI).

- Katja Pozun (SLO), born on 7-4-1993 from the SK Zagorje, won a Continental Cup competition in Rovaniemi (FIN) in November 2011 and placed third at the Junior World Championships in 2008.

"This is my first victory in Ladies World Cup, and it is emotional to win in front of home crowd. It is always nice to hear your own national anthem." "The conditions today weren't easy but I'm happy that I was able to deliver a very good attempt in the first round."

 

Sarah Hendrickson (USA), second:
"My coach told me that there was in fact too much wind. I guess the Jury knows what they do. Therefore, the cancellation of the final round was the right decision." "Second place is very important in view of the overall, and I'm happy to have achieved this result."
 
Katja Pozun (SLO), third:
"I didn't think to reach a podium place today because after a break I started ski jumping again only last year."  "Hopefully, I will jump again well tomorrow. I don't care about results but about performances."
