Attention Simi est de retour
Sacré double champion olympique en 2006, puis à nouveau deux fois sacré à Vancouver en 2010, Simon Amman rêve d'une nouvelle médaille d'or à Sochi avant de prendre une retraite bien mérité.
En retrait depuis deux saisons, le sauteur du Toggenburg ne s'est jamais affolé. En proie également à quelques soucis de santé, il a pris son temps pour revenir au plus haut niveau.
Depuis le début de l'hiver on a vu du bon Ammann et aujourd'hui à Oberstdorf, pour l'ouverture de la mythique Tournée des 4 Tremplins, les passionnés de saut à ski ont vu du très très bon Ammann.
Dès la première manche le Suisse a pris la tête du concours avant de confirmer sa suprématie en seconde manche devant 25 000 connaisseurs debout dans un stade ou plus un seul billet n'était à vendre.
Absent de la plus haute marche du podium depuis mars 2011, Simon Ammann remporte son 21e succès en carrière et grimpe pour la 71e fois sur un podium. Le tout en 299 concours en coupe du monde.
Agé de 32 ans et 187 jours, le Suisse devient le plus vieux vainqueur dans un concours de la Tournée depuis 60 ans ! Ammann avait déjà gagné à Oberstdorf en 2008 mais il n'a encore jamais remporté cette fameuse Tournée, seul titre qui manque à son fabuleux palmarès.
Le Norvégien Anders Bardal prend une très belle deuxième place à quatre points tout juste du Saint-Gallois. Bardal, âgé de 31 ans, obtient un 27e podium en carrière et se place également pour le général.
On retrouve deux hommes ex-aequo au troisième rang avec tout d'abord le jeune prodige Autrichien Thomas Diethart qui signe évidemment sa meilleure performance à ce niveau. Il est accompagné par le Slovène Peter Prevc.
Les Allemands et les Polonais sont battus de même que les stars Autrichiennes Morgenstern et Schlierenzauer, mais tous conservent de solides espoirs dans cette Tournée 2014 qui se poursuivra le jour de l'An à Garmisch.
Le Français Ronan Lamy-Chappuis prend la 40e place.

Simon Ammann (SUI): "My first jump today was probably my best jump this season and this gave me a lot of confidence for the second round. It was important that it finally worked well for me. In the second round and saw the green line and I was high again and so the landing was not so good.
You never if you can beat Bardal because he usually gets high marks. The second round was extreme again, it was great jumping in front of such an audience and to win the competition is a dream. I think that every athlete here thinks about the overall ranking, but it can't get any better than this, also concerning the course of the competition."
Anders Bardal (NOR): "It was a good day for me, the two jumps were good, but not perfect. I was hoping it will be enough for the podium and it was. For me the conditions were not too difficult, but this hill is sensitive to changing winds. I don't think about winning the 4-Hills-Tournament yet, I just take one competition at a time. Let's count the points after Bischofshofen."
Peter Prevc (SLO): "I didn't expect to be on the podium today, but that's why I'm even happier about it. It was a tough competition because the wind was changing. I was lucky in the first round and took advantage of it. So far I was only on the podium once in Planica and the atmosphere here is very different."
Thomas Diethart (AUT): "It's an amazing feeling to be on the podium here and I can't really express how great it is for me. The competition was a bit difficult, the wind was changing quite much, but it was not a problem for me. It's difficult to say why I'm jumping so well now. Everything feels easy for me, but I don't really know why."
