Hannu Manninen impérial

Une course de géants !

Avec un succès de Manninen qui triomphe s'il vous plait pour la 48e fois en coupe du monde, un chiifre fabuleux pour ce finlandais qui nous aura régalé au plus haut niveau depuis une dizaine d'années.

Manninen était vraiment très en forme ce week-end, et il doit certainement regretter de ne pas avoir connu ce même "état de grâce" durant les JO. Le finlandais skiait pour la dernière fois cette saison mais on ne sait pas encore ce qu’il fera l’an prochain, tout comme son dauphin du jour Gottwald.

Pour ce second concours de Lahti on notera que le concours de saut a été annulé en raison d'un vent trop fort et changeant. Du coup c'est le saut de réserve qui a été pris en compte pour calculer les écarts au départ du 10km de fond.

Manninen s'élançait en 12e position, un rang qui lui a rapidemment permis de rattraper tout le monde et de creuser les écarts en fin de course. Felix Gottwald réalise comme samedi une grosse remontée en remontant de la 29e à la seconde place.

Et Jason Lamy-Chappuis, toujours extraordinaire, termine l'hiver aussi fort qu'il ne l'avait commencé avec une troisième place à 36sec du vainqueur.

Stecher, Moan et Koivuranta complètent le top 6. Braud termine 15e et Lacroix 21e, pas de points cette fois pour Martin qui termine 33e.

Hannu Manninen (FIN) - first

"This was my last race in this season, and I have to say that it was really amazing for me. I achieved unbelievable results in the last months, three victories, two second places - I enjoyed every moment. Today, my game plan was to start strong and to listen to my body. I made up 45 seconds in the first turn, thi9s is quite a lot, and it was not easy to ski the last kilometers alone. The gap between me and Felix, however, was big enough; I didn't worry too much about the possibility that he could catch me".

Felix Gottwald (AUT) - second

"Yesterday, my race was even better than today. I tried to keep the good shape I had druing the Olympics, trained at home and had great performances here. I'm happy to have achieved a podium place in Lahti; it is a venue I like. Now, I'm looking forward to the season's final in Oslo. I did not decide yet what I will do next season."

Jason Lamy Chappuis (FRA) - third

"I had a great season, and I have had a lot of fun today. When you compete in the yellow bib, it is easier to give all what you have. It was a pity that we did not jump today, but I was in a good position for the podium. During the race, I got very tired. At the end, Gottwald gave me a new goal, the one to follow him.

A Gold medal victory at the Olympic Winter Games gives a lot of emotions, winning the overall World Cup means that you are consistent through the whole season. It is more difficult to win the crystal globe. "
