Villach, village du sauteur Thomas Morgenstern, organisait ce soir la deuxième étape du GP malgré des conditions difficiles pour le saut à ski.
Résultat pas mal de surprises et de déconvenues lors de la première partie du concours. Le jeune Autrichien Fabian Steindl, avec son dossard 3, remportera à la surprise générale cette manche devant le Japonais Yoshito Watabe et le vétéran Allemand Bjoern Kircheisen, le meilleur des favoris.
Johannes Rydzek, impeccable à Oberwiesenthal, se classe seulement neuvième mais très vite il va recoller aux hommes partis devant lui sur le 10km en ski-roues. Impressionnant et efficace il se retrouve vite devant avec son coéquipier Kircheisen.
A l'arrivée Rydzek sera seul pour s'imposer et monter pour la deuxième fois consécutive sur la plus haute marche du podium. Kircheisen arrive avec une douzaine de seconde de retard suivi par l'innatendu Marjan Jelenko à 20sec qui signe le premier podium Slovène de l'histoire du GP.
Alessandro Pittin (Italie) a réussi le meilleur chrono des 10km en ski-roues.
L'Autrichien Mario Seidl termine 4e devant Eric Frenzel et le Finlandais Ilkka Herola. Fabian Steindl, en tête après le saut, prend la 9e place finale.
L'équipe de France est restée plus en retrait ce soir avec Nicolas Martin 19e, Geoffrey Lafarge 25e, Samuel Guy 27e, François Braud 30e et Maxime Laheurte 35e.
Jason Lamy-Chappuis, victime des mauvaises conditions atmosphériques enregistrées lors de la manche de saut, n'a pas pris le départ du 10km.
Suite et fin du GP vendredi et samedi à Oberstdorf avec deux concours...

Johannes Rydzek (GER) - „I had a very good jump in spite of difficult conditions so I was in a good position to attack and felt very well on the roller-skis today. I closed the gap to the top group and felt even stronger so I used this to attack and was able to create a gap between the pursuers and me and my teammate Björn Kircheisen. It’s crazy that I am in such a strong shape right now! I am almost scared because I have to hold onto it now, that’s a challenge. But better like this than the other way around."
Björn Kircheisen (GER) - „It was another nice event here, despite of the slightly difficult conditions in the jumping part. We were able to stabilise my jumping shape, that was the most important thing. I was a good show by me and Johannes today. He was a little bit stronger than me today but in the end but I am really satisfied how things are going. Now we’ll have some change with a big hill in Oberstdorf which is quite useful and after that I think we can be quite happy with our preparations this year.
Marjan Jelenko (SLO): „It was a pretty good day for me. Not that good on the jumping hill as I had better distances in training but from the tenth place to be third in the end, it’s amazing! I couldn’t hope for more. At the end of the cross-country, we were about seven guys in the group and I was the strongest, so it’s perfect! Perfect evening for me."
