Très peu de sauteurs ont fait le voyage au Kazakhstan avec seulement 35 concurrents inscrits.
La FIS devrait peut-être réfléchir à son calendrier estival car entre les concours au Japon, déjà peu fréquentés, et ceux du Kazakhstan, on reste évidemment sur notre faim.
Stefan Kraft, de retour en compétition, signe le meilleur total du jour avec 307.6 points et deux sauts mesurés à 125m et 130m.
L'Autrichien gagne pour la première fois en Grand Prix devant un habitué des podiums, le Slovène Robert Kranjec.

La très grosse surprise du jour pour le Russe Ilmir Hazetdinov qui vient prendre la troisième place. Son meilleur résultat à ce niveau était une 11eme place, réussie à Nizhniy Tagil en 2013.
Le Japonais Kento Sakuyama, 5eme aujourd'hui, consolide sa place de leader du Grand Prix et semble bien parti pour l'emporter.
Suite dimanche avec un second concours à Almaty.

“It's my second time in Almaty, I was here already three years ago for the Continental Cup. It's one of my favorites hills and I hope that I can jump that well here also at the World Cup in winter. I'm very happy about this win today. The competition was on a high level and I had two perfect jumps. The conditions in the first round were difficult with the changing wind, but in the second round it was very good. It's very nice to compete again after the break. I'm in a very good shape and it's a lot of fun to jump. It was a great day and I'm looking forward to tomorrow."
Robert Kranjec (SLO): "The hill is very nice to fly, even if there's a lot of tailwind. I really like this hill and also the inrun, because it's fast."
Ilmir Hazetdinov (RUS): "I like the hills here. It's not my first time in Almaty, I can't tell how often I've been here before. The competition was on a high level and I would like to thank the organizers for providing such good conditions."
