Results — Ulster Athletics Archive → 🌐 Official website → 🏆 Athletics NI →The Ards Half Marathon returns on Friday 26 June 2026 at 6:30pm BST from the Ards Blair Mayne Wellbeing & Leisure Complex (115 Movilla Road, Newtownards, County Down BT23 8EH) — one of the most established fixtures on the Northern Ireland road racing calendar, having been held every year since 2008. Organised by local running club Scrabo Striders and sponsored by UHire, the race sends up to 700 runners through the towns and rolling countryside of the Ards Peninsula on a loop course that starts and finishes at the leisure centre. The route is undulating to hilly on roads and footpaths, accumulating 230 metres of total ascent — giving the race its well-earned reputation as one of the tougher half marathons in the province. Throughout the course, runners enjoy stunning views of Strangford Lough and the iconic Scrabo Tower perched on its drumlin at 163m. The event is held under an Athletics Northern Ireland permit, with a fully certified and chip-timed course. All finishers receive a bespoke medal and T-shirt.
