Cirencester — The heart of the Cotswolds, the challenge of a lifetime

The Cotswold Way Ultra Challenge 2026 takes place on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 June 2026, starting and finishing at the Cirencester Basecamp in Gloucestershire. Organised by Ultra Challenge — the UK's number one series of treks and trails — the event welcomes up to 2,000 adventurers across five distances from 10km to 100km. Whether you walk, jog or run, alone or as a team, for charity or simply for yourself, there's a Cotswold Way Challenge for everyone.

New for 2026, the Ultra Trailblazerz® category gives competitive runners a true race experience with a 7:00 AM start and time goals (sub 14h men / sub 15h women for 100km). The Ultra March® category is for committed walkers targeting 100km under 24 hours (or 50km under 12 hours). The looped course winds through rolling hills, charming Cotswold villages, ancient beech woods, and trails along the famous Cotswold Way itself — all with full support, marquee rest stops every 10-15km, massage, medics, hot food and drinks throughout.

🌿 The Cotswold Way — Rolling Hills, Ancient Woods, Honey-Stone Villages

The Cotswold Way is one of England's great National Trails — a 102-mile path running through the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty from Chipping Campden to Bath. The looped Challenge route from Cirencester passes through rolling farmland, ancient beech woods rich in Bronze Age barrows and Neolithic burial grounds, charming stone-built villages like Painswick and Wotton-under-Edge, and open ridgelines with panoramic views across the Vale of Evesham and the Severn Valley. Total ascent on the Full Challenge is approximately 2,600m — don't be fooled by the Cotswolds' reputation for gentle contours!

🎒 Full Support All the Way — Marquees, Food, Massage & More

Every 10-15km along every route, you'll find a fully-equipped marquee rest stop with toilets, changing rooms, first aid, medical team, massage, rest areas, hot drinks, water, snacks and much more. Optional accommodation is available at Cirencester Basecamp (university-style) for the Full 100km challenge. GPS tracking and chip timing throughout. Bus transfers to the Painswick (¾ start) and Wotton-under-Edge (½ start) are available, plus shuttle options from Cirencester. Charity fundraising supported — major charity partners include Cancer Research UK and Alzheimer's Society.
