The Gower Peninsula Ultra Challenge returns on 18–19 July 2026, based at Penrice Castle, a basecamp dating back to Norman times near Swansea. Set on the Gower Peninsula, the UK's first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the event is famous for its golden beaches, limestone cliffs, wild moors, ridges and woodlands. The full 100km Challenge follows a figure-of-8 route made up of a west and an east 50km loop, taking in golden beaches and dramatic cliffs, salt-marsh and sand dunes, with ancient woodlands inland — it can be completed continuously or split across the two days with a different loop each day. Shorter options include a 75km route, two fabulous 50km "Half" Challenges (the west loop heading clockwise down to Oxwich Bay and its nature reserve, along the Wales Coast Path to Rhossili for a picnic lunch, then via Landimore Marsh and the elevated Gower Way back to the finish), a Trail Marathon, and 25km and 10km basecamp loops. New for 2026, Ultra Trailblazerz® targets faster, competitive runners with a time goal of sub-6 hours (men) and sub-6.5 hours (women) on the 50km+ distances. The 50km and 100km events are fully ITRA-certified and recognised as UTMB Index races. The weekend also features camping options, an on-site bar and entertainment. Timing and live tracking: LiveTrail.
