The Kokoda Challenge Brisbane 2026 took place on Saturday, 13 June 2026 at Brookfield Recreation Reserve, just 30 minutes west of Brisbane's CBD — Australia's toughest team endurance event returning for another sell-out year. Teams of 2 to 5 took on the 18, 30 or 48 km courses through the rugged subtropical bush of D'Aguilar National Park, battling relentless hills, dense scrub, and muddy creek crossings. Before the start, Vietnam Veteran and Kokoda Youth Foundation founder Doug Henderson addressed the teams about the 1942 Kokoda Campaign, followed by The Ode, a moment of silence, and the bugler's Last Post — honouring the Diggers who fought for Australia's freedom in New Guinea. At its heart, this is a charity event: every team must meet a minimum fundraising target to support the Kokoda Youth Foundation's programs for at-risk young Australians. The Brisbane 48 km is the second event in the Pinnacle Series — a three-stage challenge across Southeast Queensland culminating in the Gold Coast 96 km.
