The 2026 Mastercard New York Mini 10K takes place on Saturday, June 6, 2026 in Central Park, New York City. Organised by New York Road Runners (NYRR) with Mastercard as title sponsor, this is the 54th running of the world's original women-only road race. The course starts on Central Park West near 90th Street, loops clockwise through the park, and finishes near the Naumburg Bandshell. Over 10,500 women will participate — from elite Olympians chasing a world-class time to recreational runners experiencing the park at its finest in June.
The 2026 edition features an exceptional professional field including 10 Olympians and Paralympians, nine global medalists and multiple national record holders from 10 countries. The race broadcasts live on ESPN+ and ABC7, covered by an all-women team: Sam Ryan, Carrie Tollefson, Alysia Montaño, and Ali Feller. The Girls Run (1 mile, FREE for ages 8–18) and the Run for the Future 15th anniversary celebrations make this a full community event extending well beyond the elite race.
🕰️ 1972 — The race that changed women's running
The New York Mini 10K was founded in 1972 as the world's first women-only road race, originally known as the "Crazylegs Mini Marathon" — named after the miniskirt, a symbol of women's liberation at the time. Only 72 women crossed the finish line in that inaugural edition. Three weeks later, Title IX was signed into law, guaranteeing girls and women the right to participate in school sports. Today, more than 10,500 women follow in their footsteps. Named after the miniskirt ("Mini"), the race has grown from a revolutionary act into one of the most celebrated women's races in the world.
«Join us in Central Park on Saturday, June 6 for the Mastercard New York Mini 10K and follow in the footsteps of legends at the 54th running of this historic women's road race. Founded in 1972 — and named after a symbol of women's liberation, the miniskirt — this 10K race empowers women of all ages and fitness levels to come together, be active, and accomplish a running milestone alongside other inspiring runners.» — events.nyrr.org
