The 2026 Monterey Trail Experience takes place on Sunday, May 31, 2026 at Toro Park, located just six miles from downtown Salinas in Monterey County, California. Presented by Spartan Trail, this fan-favorite event offers three distances — Trail Marathon, Trail Half Marathon, and Trail 10K — all set against the backdrop of iconic coastal California terrain. Gun times roll from 6:45 AM (marathon first), with chip time not counted. Note: all results are based on gun time.
Toro Park is a vast, sprawling venue full of signature Bay Area trail scenery: rolling golden hills, sparse coast live oaks offering brief pockets of shade, smooth singletrack through pastures and arroyos, and rocky climbs with open-sky views stretching toward Monterey Bay. The heat can be intense — average 61°F / 16°C at race time — but the trails are fast and the surroundings are nothing short of spectacular. Average altitude sits around 1,700 ft (520m). This trail race is held as part of the Spartan OCR festival weekend, with obstacle course races on Saturday May 30.
