The 2026 Steamboat Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K Presented by Alpine Bank celebrates its 45th annual running on Sunday 7 June 2026 in Steamboat Springs, Routt County, Colorado. Organised by the Steamboat Chamber Resort Association and directed by Paul Sachs, this is one of the most beloved destination races in the American West. Ranked among the "Top 10 Destination Marathons in North America" and featured in Runner's World's "Bucket List: 9 Destination Half Marathons", it combines extraordinary scenery with a genuine mountain-town welcome.
The marathon course begins near Hahns Peak Village — a former mining village north of Steamboat Springs — and follows a scenic point-to-point route down the Elk River Valley, running alongside the roaring Elk River through emerald green pastures on Country Road 129, with snow-capped Rocky Mountains of Colorado all around, past the Yampa Valley's rolling ranchland, before finishing in Downtown Steamboat Springs. The marathon is a certified Boston Qualifier. It's a full weekend experience in one of Colorado's most beautiful mountain resort towns.
