Les mondiaux U23 féminins se sont achevés en beauté avec ce skiathlon effectué sur une distance de 15km avec changement de skis et de technique à la mi-course.
C'est la Russe Elena Soboleva qui a pris d'emblée la tête de course avant de passer en tête à la mi-course devant sa compatriote Zhukova, l'Italienne Agreiter et une excellente Célia Aymonier.
La Jurassienne passait au 4e rang à 13sec avec encore de solides espoirs de médaille mais malheuresement la partie en skating s'est passée un petit peu moins bien. Résultat elle perd 4 places et termine ce skiathlon au 8e rang à 39sec.
Devant les Norvégiennes ont enclenché le turbo en skating pendant que les Russes faiblissaient légèrement. Petit à petit un trio s'est détaché avec Haga et Slind accompagnées par l'Italienne, Agreiter, récente 3e du 10km remportée par Haga.
Une Ragnhild Haga qui a su trouver les forces nécessaires pour finalement forcer la décision en toute fin de course avant d'aller cueillir son second titre mondial U23 avec 1.1sec d'avance sur Deborah Agreiter et 2.3 sur Kari Oyere Slind, auteur du meilleur temps en skating.
Les Russes sont, pour une fois battues, avec Zhukova 4e à 23sec et Soboleva 6e. Intercalée on retrouve la Kazakh Slonova.

"It was really hard. I had to fight a lot on the classical part. I am really happy I could catch up whir Deborah in the free technique. After the ski exchange I did not know if I could make it. I felt quite good in both classic and skating but free technique part was better for me. I am now going to Norway for the national championships, it is 4 race in 5 day,“ commented Ragnhild Haga after her victory.
Debora Agreiter: „I am little bit disappointed I did not win the gold medal. Today believed I could make it but I think I have done a very good job. I knew that Norwegians girls were very good. Looking back now I should have skied technically better but I gave everything. I have learned many things today. I had to risk I did not have a choice. I got the information from the coaches that the Norwegians were coming. I am going now to train in high altitude to get ready for the World Championships in Val di Fiemme.“
Kari Oeyre Slind: „I am really happy for the bronze medal. It is good to have a such performance. I felt good in classical part. After the ski exchange I broke my pole. In the skating part I tried to follow Ragnhild and go for the medal. I always ski with my sleeves up, no matter how cold it is.“
