Results → 🌐 Official Website →The Air Force Marathon is a Boston-qualifying endurance event held every year on the third Saturday of September at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton, Ohio. First run in 1997 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the U.S. Air Force, the race has grown into one of the largest military-themed marathons in the country, drawing runners from all fifty states and abroad. In 2026 the event celebrates its 30th anniversary, with a special aircraft reveal planned for race weekend.
Runners choose from a full Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, 5K or the family-friendly Tailwind Trot 1K Kids' Run. New for 2026, a RUCK division joins the 10K and Half Marathon, alongside a 3-person marathon relay and a virtual option for runners who cannot make it to Dayton. The marathon course is largely flat, with two hillier stretches — one at the start, the other between miles 21 and 25 — before finishing at the National Museum of the United States Air Force.
The course winds through the base's historic aviation sites, tracing more than 110 years of military airpower history before runners cross the line steps from vintage aircraft on display. Past editions have drawn upward of 13,000 participants, making it one of the largest marathons in Ohio. Results: Raceroster.
