The 2026 Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon takes place on Saturday, June 20, 2026 — part of the landmark 50th anniversary Grandma's Marathon weekend in Duluth, Minnesota. Named for Garry Bjorklund, a Duluth native, two-time Grandma's Marathon champion (1977 and 1980), and 1976 Olympian in the 10,000m, the race has grown since its 1991 debut into one of the most popular half marathons in the United States, drawing up to 7,500 participants. The point-to-point course follows Scenic Highway 61 north of Duluth, hugging the crystalline shores of Lake Superior before sweeping through the heart of downtown Duluth and finishing in historic Canal Park beneath the iconic Aerial Lift Bridge. The net-downhill course — with its largest incline at mile 9 — and the frequent north tailwind make Duluth one of the premier venues in America for a personal record. The 2026 weekend is expected to attract over 19,000 total finishers across the marathon, half marathon, and 5K.

🎉 50th Anniversary of Grandma's Marathon (2026) — The 2026 Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon is part of the milestone 50th Grandma's Marathon weekend, June 18–20. The full marathon first ran in 1977, won by Garry Bjorklund himself. Over its history, Grandma's has welcomed nearly 18,300 finishers across all events (2025 record). The annual pre-race spaghetti feed — 2,400 lbs of pasta, 5,000 lbs of sauce and 32,000 meatballs in 2025 — remains a cherished tradition for the 8,000+ guests who attend.
