Almaty Marathon 2026: Live Results

Held in Kazakhstan's largest city, at the foot of the Tian Shan mountains, the Almaty Marathon marks its 15th anniversary on Sunday 27 September 2026. Organised by the Corporate Fund "Courage to Be First" since 2012, it has grown from a charity run of 2,500 participants into the largest running event in Central Asia, with around 16,000 participants expected in 2026 on newly updated routes.

Since 2018, the start and finish have been unified at Republic Square, with the course heading along Al-Farabi Avenue, offering runners panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Along the way, participants pass several iconic landmarks, including the First President's Park and the Botanical Garden. The race is certified under AIMS and IAAF rules (B category), with runners typically experiencing long climbs and steep descents at an altitude of roughly 700–900 metres above sea level.

Five formats make up the event: the traditional marathon (42.195 km) and half marathon (21.0975 km) for participants aged 18 and over, a 10K companion run and 10K Nordic walking open from age 15, and the Ekiden corporate relay, in which teams of six cover the full marathon distance together. Part of the entry fees supports the marathon's ongoing charitable projects, which have funded sports facilities, sensory rooms and medical equipment at specialised schools, care homes and children's centres across Kazakhstan.
