The America's Finest City Half Marathon & 5K takes place on Sunday 16 August 2026 in San Diego, California. For its 49th annual edition, dating back to 1978, the Half Marathon remains a scenic, point-to-point journey through the very best of America's Finest City: it begins at the historic Cabrillo National Monument atop the tip of Point Loma, with sweeping panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and San Diego Bay, then continues through Historic Fort Rosecrans and Point Loma, along San Diego Bay and Harbor Island, past the Star of India, and through vibrant downtown San Diego before a triumphant finish in Balboa Park, surrounded by cheering fans and live music. The 5K delivers a fast, flat and fun loop through the heart of Balboa Park, starting at 6:10 AM with a one-hour time limit — ideal for runners of all levels. A free Kids 1K is also on offer. America's Finest City is the final race of the San Diego Foundation SoCal Triple Crown, alongside the Carlsbad Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K and the GOVX San Diego Half Marathon & 5K; runners who complete all three races in the same calendar year, at any distance, earn a Triple Crown finisher medal.
