On September 19–20, 2026, Geelong stages its first ever mass-participation running festival, headlined by the city's first ever marathon.

Results → 🌐 Official Website →The Geelong Running Festival puts Victoria's second city on the mass-participation running map for the first time, with its inaugural edition held over Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September 2026. Headlining the weekend is the first ever Geelong Marathon (the Zeekr Marathon), run alongside the RedZed Half Marathon and a Half Marathon Wheelies wheelchair division. Both the Marathon and Half Marathon courses are certified by World Athletics and recognised by AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Distance Races).
All Sunday races start and finish in the heart of the city: the start line is the Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre on Western Beach Road, with the finish at Steampacket Gardens on Eastern Beach Road. The Zeekr Marathon and RedZed Half Marathon both go off at 7:00 AM, followed by the Henley Homes Community 6.5K at 7:25 AM. Runners tackle fully traffic-free streets, passing through iconic Kardinia Park and GMHBA Stadium and soaking up views of Corio Bay and the Eastern Beach foreshore.
The festival opens on Saturday, September 19, with the free-spirited GYG Kids' 800m and 1-Mile runs plus the GYG All Abilities 1-Mile, all starting from the Geelong Waterfront from 8:00 AM and wrapping up at Steampacket Gardens by 10:30 AM. The organisers have partnered with Grassrootz to raise $250,000 for local charities in 2026. Results: MultiSport Australia.
