En l'absence d'Adam Malysz et de tous les meilleurs mondiaux, c'est logiquement le leader japonais du GP d'été Daiki Ito qui a remporté le premier concours d'Hakuba.
Ito a réussi deux sauts à 131m50 et 128m50 pour un total de 271.6 points. Derrière on retrouve les révélations polonaises Dawid Kubacki et Kamil Stoch qui grimpent une nouvelle fois sur le podium.
Dimanche les sauteurs seront en piste pour le second concours avec probablement un trio de vainqueurs qui ressemblera à celui d'aujourd'hui.

Daiki Ito (JPN): "Of course it would be nice to also win the overall ranking of the Grand Prix. In the past always great athletes won this title and I would like to be one of them. But of course the main goal is the winter.”
Dawid Kubacki (POL): “I showed two good jumps today and I’m very satisfied. For me this was the first podium result in a Grand Prix. The secret why the Polish team is so strong at the moment is “Top Secret” :-).
Kamil Stoch (POL): “It was a nice competition. The second jump was not perfect, but it was okay. The biggest change from winter to summer was my wedding, but the training is almost the same as last year.”
