Koch a signé sa première victoire sur le circuit mondial avec des sauts à 211 et 213 m pour un total de 425,2 points sur le tremplin de vol à skis d'Harrachov, l'un des plus imposants au monde.

Il a dominé Morgenstern (196,5 et 190,5 m, 421,9 points) et le Polonais Adam Malysz (197,5 et 189 m, 416,6 ptsd).

Le Suisse Simon Ammann, qui avait survolé la saison dernière avec deux titres olympiques et le globe de N.1 mondial, a terminé à la 6e place. A noter que le Norvégien Romoeren, second après la manche initiale, a complètement manqué son second saut.

Au classement mondial, Morgenstern qui est toujours monté sur le podium cet hiver à l'exception de deux concours, reste largement en tête avec plus de 350 points d'avance sur son compatriote Andreas Kofler qui a fait l'impasse sur cette épreuve, tandis qu'Ammann, 3e, accuse presque 400 points de retard.

Aucun Français n'a participé à ce concours, Chedal et Descombes-Sevoie ont été éliminé dès les qualifications.

Emmanuel Chedal est 26e au classement général de la Coupe du monde.

Martin Koch (AUT): “I had to wait a long time for this victory and that makes it even more special as if I would have one my first competition. I was often too ambitious and wanted too much, since my injury in fall I just try to do what I can. I don’t know why, but I just know what to do at the take off of a ski flying hill. There still some time until the World Championships but if I get the chance to compete there I’ll do my best also in Oslo.”

 

Thomas Morgenstern (AUT): ”I have to congratulate Martin to his first victory, it’s amazing and he deserved it. It was a very exciting competition today and I had two really good jumps."

 

Adam Malysz (POL): “I’m very happy and I want to thank all the fans who came here, not only from Poland but also from the Czech Republic. I think it will also be a really good competition tomorrow.”
