"This decathlon did not start really the best and that is why I fought really hard today. I went all in from this morning and it makes me really proud. It has been a long way. I have done so many decathlons with Damien (Warner, CAN).

We are always supporting each other. It is nice to share this podium with him. I had a couple of close calls. First, when I landed in the pit during long jump, I twisted my shoulder. It was rough. Then I got cramp at 1.99m during the high jump.

This morning I pulled my hamstring before the hurdles. But it is decathlon, we are used to a lot of injuries, you get through it. My physio and my coach Greg have been doing a lot to get me ready for the rest of the competition. We did it.

This medal is for my coach. He has been working in this sport for more than 40 years and he really deserves this one.

I feel like I have not been sleeping for the past three days and I will celebrate this gold with a good sleep. I will probably do one more decathlon in a couple of weeks and then will be time for a rest before preparations for the Paris."
