The point-to-point course begins in Newcastle city centre, sends runners over the iconic Tyne Bridge and through Gateshead, then heads towards South Tyneside before finishing on the seafront at South Shields — a finish line few races anywhere in the world can match, with the roar of the crowd carrying runners home. Along the way, landmarks including the view of the North Sea from Prince Edward Road add to an atmosphere that has made the race a genuine institution of the running calendar.
