On September 13, 2026, the Great National Assembly Square becomes the starting point for Moldova's biggest running celebration.
Results & Tracking → 🌐 Official Page →More than just a sports event, the Chisinau International Marathon is, in the words of its founder Dmitri Voloshin, president of the NGO Sporter, "a big celebration for the city." Held in its current format since 2015 as a relaunch of a legendary race from decades earlier, the marathon has become a real sports holiday for tens of thousands of Moldovans, drawing foreign athletes from more than 52 countries. The race holds official AIMS status, having made Moldova the 121st member of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races.
All races start and finish at the Great National Assembly Square, the political and cultural heart of Moldova. The marathon (42.195 km) covers four laps of a 10.5 km loop with a 6-hour time limit, while the half marathon (21.097 km) covers two laps with a 3-hour limit; both wind along Ștefan cel Mare Boulevard, Ciuflea Street and Dacia Boulevard, past Soviet-era architecture and modern European charm. Shorter 10K and 5K races offer an accessible way to join in, alongside a Kids Run for young runners and Marathon for All, a dedicated wheelchair race.
