Results & Tracking → 🌐 Official Page →It's not hard to see why IRONMAN chose to bring a race to a place that's literally named after good weather: IRONMAN 70.3 Sunshine Coast is built around a dash of sunshine, a course that suits everyone, and a coastal town that simply feels good to be in. Held on the beach at Mooloolaba, on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, the race has a strong pedigree, having hosted the 2016 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship. The 2026 edition takes place on Sunday, September 13, opening with a 1.9km swim off Mooloolaba's spectacular surf beach, using a rolling start so athletes enter the water based on their own expected swim time.
From there, a flat and fast 90km bike course sets riders up for a strong run split, before the event closes with a two-lap, 21.1km run around the Mooloolaba Esplanade, with sections extending toward Alexandra Headland and Cotton Tree — lined with spectators cheering competitors all the way to the finish line. Whether it's a first half-distance triathlon or a tenth, organisers describe the Sunshine Coast course as hitting the "sweet spot": good weather, a course that suits every level, and a finish-line atmosphere that makes the training worthwhile. IRONKIDS events for ages 7-10 (1km) and 11-13 (2km) run the day before, on Saturday 12 September. Results and live tracking: RTRT.
