Results & Tracking → 🌐 Official Page →One of the most beloved stops on the North American IRONMAN calendar, IRONMAN 70.3 Wisconsin returns to Madison on Saturday, September 12, 2026. Madison "knows how to host an IRONMAN event," and athletes taking on the half-distance race get a preview of the Midwestern charm and Big City culture that also welcome the full-distance IRONMAN Wisconsin field the following day. The swim (1.2 miles) is a single, clockwise loop in Lake Monona, starting at Law Park Beach and finishing at the concrete boat ramp, with buoys marking the course every 100 yards. The event uses a rolling, self-seeded start, so athletes enter the water based on their own estimated swim time rather than all at once.
From there, the 56-mile bike course tours Madison and the surrounding Wisconsin countryside — a route many returning athletes will recognise from previous editions, winding past farmland, shimmering lakes and rolling hills. The closing 13.1-mile run brings competitors back through the city to a finish line unlike any other in the sport: the foot of the Wisconsin State Capitol, greeted by the roar of thousands of free spectators. Whether it's a first triathlon or a well-worn rite of passage, IRONMAN 70.3 Wisconsin is built around the same community spirit that has made its full-distance sibling legendary.
