L'Autrichien Martin Koch a remporté samedi le concours d'Oberstdorf, comptant pour la Coupe du monde de saut à skis, tandis que le leader du classement mondial, son compatriote Thomas Morgenstern, a signé avec sa 16e place son plus mauvais résultat de l'hiver.
Koch s'est imposé pour la deuxième fois de sa carrière en Coupe du monde avec des sauts à 214,5 et 210,5 m, devant le Norvégien Tom Hilde (192,5/209,5 m) et un revenant, l'Autrichien Gregor Schlierenzauer (198/208,5 m).
Schlierenzauer, vainqueur de la Coupe du monde en 2009 et dauphin du Suisse Simon Ammann, n'était pas encore monté sur un podium du circuit mondial cette saison.
A trois semaines des Mondiaux-2011 d'Oslo, l'Autriche commence à s'inquiéter pour Morgenstern qui, depuis mi-janvier, n'est plus aussi dominateur qu'en début d'hiver.
Il est toutefois quasiment assuré de remporter le globe de cristal pour la deuxième fois de sa carrière après 2008, puisqu'il compte 430 points d'avance sur Ammann avant les cinq derniers concours de l'hiver.
Côté français, Emmanuel Chedal est encore une fois le seul à avoir disputé les deux manches et a terminé au 21e rang, ce qui lui vaut d'occuper la 29e place au classement mondial.
Un concours par équipes se déroulera dimanche.

Martin Koch (AUT): “Simply sensational. I knew that I already won a World Cup this year and I really wanted this victory. I was two meters late at the take off but I did everything I could and attacked. The rest is history. The World Championships and the ski flying World Cup are my goals for the season. Now I’m looking forward to the next ski flying event, especially in Vikersund.”
Tom Hilde (NOR): “Norwegians are always good in ski flying. I didn’t do so well here before but today I could show some good jumps. I’m very satisfied. It doesn’t really matter if we can improve our position in the Team Tour because there only the first place counts, but we are looking forward to the team event tomorrow. I’m already excited about Oslo and I wanted to achieve good results before the Championships the show the people at home that I can jump well."
Gregor Schlierenzauer (AUT): “The third place is a satisfaction. It’s great to be back on the podium again. This is the best motivation for the World Championships. I can still fly well but there’s also room for improvement, especially in the inrun position.”
