Organised by the Big Sur Marathon Foundation, the 2025 edition, its 20th, sold out with more than 9,000 entrants. Ero Doce (1:03:47) and Jenna Ramsey-Rutledge (1:12:15) won last year.

Course: Cannery Row and the coast
The half passes Cannery Row, downtown Monterey and the Monterey Bay Aquarium, then follows Ocean View Boulevard.
It heads along the Pacific Grove coastline to the lighthouse and towards Asilomar, sea lions barking along the way.
