Announced earlier this year as major news for the region's running community, the event gives local runners a brand-new chance to punch their ticket to one of the most prestigious races in the world: the marathon distance runs on a USATF-certified course, making it an official Boston Marathon qualifier right from its very first year.
All four distances — marathon, half marathon, 10K, and 5K — start and finish at Werner Park (12356 Ballpark Way), home of the Omaha Storm Chasers minor league baseball team, and follow a scenic course along the shoreline of Prairie Queen Lake. The race is part of the Run Omaha Race Series, a set of three area races whose 2026 finisher medals connect into a single piece for runners who complete all three. Virtual run options are also offered for the 10K, half marathon, and marathon distances for those who can't make it to Papillion in person.
Race morning begins with packet pickup from 6:00 AM to 7:00 AM, followed by a 7:00 AM start for all in-person distances; the course closes at 12:30 PM. Time limits are set at 5 hours 30 minutes for the marathon, 3 hours 30 minutes for the half marathon, 1 hour 50 minutes for the 10K, and 1 hour 20 minutes for the 5K. Runners can pick up their packets in advance on Friday, September 4, from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM at the Dick's Sporting Goods in Papillion, have them mailed ahead of time, or collect them race morning.
