The Ørestad Half Marathon returns for its 2nd edition on Sunday, September 6, 2026, with a 10:00 AM start at Naturcenter Amager on Kalvebod Fælled, right at the edge of Copenhagen's Ørestad district. Marketed explicitly as the «World Championships Warm-Up», the event falls just two weeks before the 2026 World Athletics Road Running Championships, which take over the Danish capital on September 19-20, 2026 for the One Mile, 5K and Half Marathon world titles.

To help runners fine-tune their form ahead of that event, the organisers have added three new distances alongside the Half Marathon this year: the One Mile, the 5K and the 10K. The 21.0975 km half marathon course is AIMS-certified and measured to official World Athletics guidelines, running entirely on asphalt with long straight sections and only about 5 turns greater than 30 degrees — compared to 17 on the well-known Copenhagen Half Marathon. Total elevation gain sits at roughly 7 metres, versus over 30 metres on that other course, making Ørestad one of the flattest half marathon routes anywhere and giving it a genuine claim to being among the world's fastest.

The route runs through Kalvebod Fælled, designated a near-urban nature national park — the first race ever held inside one — where runners may spot wild fallow deer, horses and rich birdlife against the backdrop of Ørestad's modern skyline. The venue is easily reached by metro. Results and live tracking: RaceResult.
