Ruka's alpine ski area features 34 slopes (20.6 km total): 12 green (easy), 16 blue (intermediate), 4 red (advanced), 2 black (expert), with 21 modern lifts including high-speed gondolas and chairlifts. The Vuosseli Express gondola provides direct access to summit slopes and panoramic Lapland views. Ruka hosts FIS World Cup Nordic Opening (Ruka Nordic) annually in late November, featuring cross-country skiing, ski jumping, and Nordic combined competitions with top international athletes. The resort's 500 km cross-country track network connects Ruka with neighboring areas including Kitka, Koli, and the famous Karhunkierros (Bear's Ring) hiking trail, offering diverse terrain from gentle forest loops to challenging mountain trails. Access & Information: Ruka is located in Kuusamo municipality, 25 km from Kuusamo town center, northeastern Finland. Kuusamo Airport receives regular flights from Helsinki (Finnair) and seasonal charters from European cities. Bus service connects Kuusamo Airport and town to Ruka Resort (30 min).
