The South West Coast 50 Ultra Challenge returns on Saturday 25 July 2026, starting and finishing at the basecamp beneath Dunster Castle in Somerset. The full 50km loop, with over 1,600 metres of climb, drops down to the coast to join the official Minehead start of the famous 630-mile South West Coast Path, tracing the Bristol Channel with views toward South Wales before reaching Porlock at the halfway point. The route then cuts through forest and into Exmoor National Park, crossing open moorland and climbing Dunkery Beacon, Exmoor's highest point, before descending back toward Minehead and returning to basecamp. A 25km option, with three different course choices, and a family-friendly 10km complete the distance range. New for 2026, Ultra Trailblazerz gives competitive runners a time goal — sub-7 hours for men and sub-7.5 hours for women over 50km, with a 6.45am start — while Ultra March is aimed at walkers targeting 50km in under 12 hours, led out by an experienced pacer from 8.30am. The event is fully supported with marquee rest stops roughly every 10-15km, GPS tracking and a marked route throughout. Live tracking: LiveTrail.
