What started as a local community fun run has grown, over almost three decades, into one of Queensland's most iconic mass-participation events. On Sunday, September 13, 2026, the Transurban Bridge to Brisbane celebrates its 30th birthday, welcoming an estimated 40,000 people of all ages and abilities to run, jog, walk and wheel along Brisbane's streets and bridges. The event takes over the Gateway Bridge, offering a rare, traffic-free opportunity to experience one of the city's most iconic stretches of road as the city wakes up around participants.

Two distances are on offer. The 10km course starts at the southern end of the Gateway Bridge in Murarrie, sends runners across the bridge itself with a descent on the far side, and finishes at the Brisbane Showgrounds. The 5km course starts at Hercules Park in Hamilton, follows Kingsford Smith Drive, and loops through Bowen Hills before arriving at the same Showgrounds finish line. With more than 15 entertainment spots along the course keeping the energy high, the event raises millions of dollars each year for local charities through participant fundraising. After crossing the line, everyone celebrates together at the Finish Village, with food, live entertainment and free rides for the whole family. Results, race photos and finisher certificates are available through the official Bridge to Brisbane platform and app.
